A CNG‑run auto‑rickshaw driver was killed after a bus hit his vehicle in Karwan Bazar, the capital’s busy commercial hub, on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Mamun Farazi, 33, originally from Char Fasson in Bhola but residing in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj.
The accident occurred around 12:30pm near the gate of East Tejturi Bazar. Passersby rescued Mamun in critical condition and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead at 1:15pm.
Eyewitness Kazi Faisal said a Labbaik Transport bus collided with the auto‑rickshaw, leaving the driver severely injured. Despite immediate medical attention, Mamun succumbed to his injuries.
DMCH Police Camp in‑charge Md Faruk confirmed the death, adding that the body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy. Authorities have launched an inquiry into the incident.
