The country’s first satellite television channel, ATN Bangla, has completed 29 years and stepped into its 30th year.
The channel began its journey on 15 July 1997 with the slogan “Obiram Banglar Mukh” (The Everlasting Face of Bengal).
During its long journey, ATN Bangla won the Emmy Award, known as the Oscars of television, on 22 November 2004 for its programme Amrao Pari. The channel has also received numerous other honours over the years.
As part of its anniversary celebrations, ATN Bangla has arranged a series of special programmes. The morning magazine show Chayer Chumuke will air at 7:30am, followed by a special episode of Amra Korbo Joy at 9am. A special programme titled Celebration Er Chhoya will be broadcast at 11am.
At 2:40pm, the channel will air Shakib Khan-starrer blockbuster film Borbad.
A special episode of Purano Sei Diner Kotha, featuring the cast members of ATN Bangla’s first television serial Shat Number Barir, will be aired at 5:30pm. The news-based programme Khabarer Khoj Khabar will follow at 6:20pm.
A special drama titled Jaban will be broadcast at 7:50pm. Directed by SR Majumdar, the drama stars Niloy Alamgir and JS Himi.
The magazine programme Obiram Poth Cholar 30 Bochor will air at 8:50pm. Ali Asgar Emon has hosted and directed the programme.
A special music programme titled Sonali Sur will be broadcast at 10:50pm. The programme has been directed by Selim Daula Khan. A special talk show, ATN Sanglap, will air at 11:50pm.
