Asif Nazrul began his added role as Youth and Sports Adviser on Wednesday. He started with an official visit to the National Sports Council. There, he met leaders from different sports federations.
He said the meeting helped him understand the core issues in the sports sector. He felt that not all federations received equal attention in the past. He also said success on the international stage should not be the only measure of sports growth.
Nazrul stressed the need to focus on people at all levels. He said sport should not be limited to a small group. He added that games loved by the masses must get proper support.
He also spoke about athletes from the Chattogram Hill Tracts. Nazrul said more sports facilities are needed in the region to help local players grow.
Nazrul also serves as the Adviser for Law, Justice and Expatriate Welfare. During the meeting, he spoke with federation officials to learn about the main problems in sports. He said time is limited as the national election is set for February next year.
