Arguments were presented on Monday in the case against Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President Hasanul Haq Inu over allegations of crimes against humanity committed during the July mass uprising.

Defence lawyer Munsurul Haq Chowdhury placed the arguments before the International Crimes Tribunal-2. Following the proceedings, the tribunal adjourned the hearing until 21 April.

The recording of prosecution witnesses in this case commenced on 1 December last year. Previously, on 25 September, the prosecution submitted eight specific charges to the tribunal. Following a hearing that same day, the tribunal took the charges against Inu into cognisance.

The prosecution has already concluded its production of witnesses.

Hasanul Haq Inu was arrested on 26 August 2024. He was subsequently shown arrested in this case involving the killing of six people in Kushtia during the 2024 mass uprising.

The JSD leader served as information minister during the tenure of the Awami League regime. However, in the 12th parliamentary election, he lost his seat in Kushtia to an Awami League rebel candidate while contesting as an alliance nominee.
