Nico Paz avoided serious injury after a scary head clash during Como’s Serie A match against Genoa on Sunday.
The Argentine midfielder suffered the blow in the first half at Stadio Luigi Ferraris after colliding with Genoa defender Alessandro Marcandalli.
Paz was left struggling with his vision after the impact. Medical staff quickly took him off the field before sending him to a local hospital for checks.
The incident first raised fears of a major problem. But tests later showed no serious damage.
Paz was discharged from hospital after receiving normal results and later rejoined his teammates.
Como coach Cesc Fabregas said the decision to substitute him was purely for safety.
“Nick is fine now, he is undergoing tests at the hospital,” Fabregas said after the match.
“He couldn’t see properly, so we didn’t want to take any risks. The health of the players is above everything else for the team.”
