Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman is expanding into immersive entertainment with the launch of ARR Immersive, a new app for Apple Vision Pro that brings together music, storytelling and virtual experiences. The platform is set to launch on 22 July, marking Rahman’s latest step into spatial entertainment.
According to Variety, the app features content from Le Musk, Rahman’s 360-degree virtual reality film that premiered at the Cannes XR Festival. It is the first time footage from the project has been adapted for Apple Vision Pro, with the material redesigned to take advantage of the headset’s spatial viewing experience.
The launch also includes exclusive original content created specifically for the platform. Among the highlights are three Kathak dance performances that blend Western orchestral music with Indian classical dance. The performances feature Pranith AP, Palak Chauhan and Mudra IV, with choreography by Shrita Baskar. The app also includes ARR Live, a dedicated section showcasing Rahman’s concert performances. Additional titles are currently in development and will be released later.
Rahman said music has always been more than something people hear, describing it as an emotional experience. He said advances in technology now allow audiences to experience stories and music in ways that were unimaginable only a few years ago.
“With the ARR Immersive App, we wanted to create a space where audiences don’t simply watch a performance or listen to a composition, they feel present within it. This is about bringing together music, storytelling and innovation to create experiences that are deeply personal, emotionally engaging and truly immersive. I believe this is an exciting new canvas for creators, and this is only the beginning,” he said.
The app will be available through the Apple App Store, launching first on Apple Vision Pro. A version for Meta Quest is scheduled to follow later.
