The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (Ansar-VDP) has organised the Talent Hunt Camp 2025–26 as part of its continued efforts to identify promising athletes from the grassroots and develop them into national-level competitors.
The camp was held on Monday at the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Academy in Safipur, Gazipur, where the selection process for recruiting new and promising athletes into the force’s main sports team was completed, reads a press release.
Around 500 aspiring athletes from different districts across the country took part in the selection process in 26 sporting disciplines.
Following a rigorous assessment based on physical capability, fitness and technical skills in their respective events, 230 athletes were selected.
The selected athletes will undergo a one-month intensive training programme under the supervision of experienced coaches. The training will focus on improving their physical fitness, technical skills and mental preparedness.
Upon completion of the training, athletes who deliver satisfactory performances in national-level competitions will be enlisted in the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP’s main sports team with an allowance.
The initiative is expected not only to strengthen the sports capacity of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP but also to provide a platform for emerging talents from across the country to showcase their abilities at the national level.
It is also expected to accelerate the development of new sporting talent and help build a stronger foundation for Bangladesh’s success in international competitions.
