Anne Hathaway has responded to social media trolls who questioned the authenticity of her pregnancy after she proudly showed off her baby bump at the premiere of The End of Oak Street in Los Angeles, reports Hindustan Times.
The actor, who is expecting her third child at 43, attended Sunday’s premiere in a striking halter top paired with low-rise jeans.
Her pregnancy quickly became a talking point online, with some users even claiming that her baby bump was “fake”.
Hathaway appeared to address the comments directly in an Instagram post documenting her preparations for the premiere.
Sharing a behind-the-scenes video of her hair and makeup team getting her ready, Hathaway revealed details of her custom outfit — an Atelier Prabal Gurung sculptural halter top in celestial blue and vivid crimson silk Mikado, paired with La Ligne jeans.
Her stylist Erin Walsh described the look as “serving supernova mama energy”.
Hathaway then added her own cheeky response to the online speculation, captioning the video: “Fake hair, real bump.”
Hathaway is expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman. The couple are already parents to Jonathan, 10, and Jack, six.
Speaking to Access Hollywood at the New York premiere of The Odyssey, Hathaway said she was pleasantly surprised to discover she was pregnant again at 43.
“There’s always hope until there’s not, but when you get to a certain age, that hope looks like 1 per cent to 2 per cent,” she said.
She added that she and Shulman decided to “see where life took us” while maintaining realistic expectations.
“We’re overjoyed, because we just know from personal experience that not everybody gets this,” Hathaway said.
The actor has also embraced her maternity style, calling pregnancy fashion “really, really fun”. Speaking about her changing body, she said, “It doesn’t last forever, so we’re just enjoying every moment.”
Hathaway was recently seen in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, alongside Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson and Jon Bernthal.
She has two upcoming projects: the erotic thriller Verity and the war drama Alone at Dawn.
