All metropolitan, district, upazila, union, and ward-level committees of the Students Against Discrimination (SAD) movement have been reinstated. This information was provided in a notice signed by the organisation’s Central President, Rifat Rashid, around 7pm on Sunday. The notice has already been posted on the central organisation’s verified Facebook page.
The notice stated that the suspension orders for all committees of SAD are being revoked and their activities are being resumed to ensure the transformation of the July student-led mass uprising.
“We are observing with deep concern that the full realisation of the aspirations and objectives for which the July 24 student-led mass uprising took place has not yet been achieved. Rather, it is evident that the treatment and rehabilitation of the July martyrs’ families and the injured have not been ensured, just as the uprising government has failed to properly ensure their security. Incidents of attacks on martyrs’ families and the injured have already occurred in various places, which is extremely worrying. Furthermore, we have still not witnessed any clear roadmap regarding the judicial process for the July killings, which is an extreme failure of the interim government standing upon the blood of thousands of martyrs and the injured.”
It went on to add, “Therefore, to ensure the transformation of the July uprising and for the purpose of the historic one-point demand, namely the abolition of the fascist system and the establishment of a new political order, the suspension orders for all unit committees at the country’s university, college, metropolitan, district, upazila, union, and ward levels are hereby revoked, in accordance with the decision of the Students Against Discrimination movement’s Central Committee. Simultaneously, all concerned units are instructed to resume organisational activities, and all university, metropolitan, and district units across the country are directed to complete committee reorganisation within the next 15 working days.”
Regarding this matter, the Central Committee Co-President of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, MJH Manju, said, “These committees have been reactivated for the greater interest of the organisation and to achieve the full realisation of the objectives of the July uprising.”
President Rifat Rashid said, “Committees across the country will be newly announced again very soon. Controversial individuals will have no place in the new committees. Until then, all our previous committees will continue their operations starting today. I call upon the leaders and activists to be a little patient. July is not over yet.”
