Md Shafiqul Islam Khan, administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), has said, “All ongoing tender works of the city corporation must be completed within the specified time. It will be examined whether there were any irregularities in the tender process in the past, and all complaints will be properly investigated.”
The newly appointed DNCC administrator made these remarks on Thursday at an introduction and exchange of views meeting with officers and employees of DNCC Zones 1, 6, 7, and 8 at the Community Center in Sector 6, Uttara, capital.
Speaking as the chief guest at the exchange meeting, the administrator said, “Mosquitoes cannot be controlled just by using insecticides. Social awareness and monitoring must be increased for effective mosquito control.” At that time, the administrator instructed mosquito control workers to work timely and sincerely.
The DNCC administrator further stated, “No more illegal work will be done in the city corporation. I have come here to work. Let the people see that we are trying to work for the city.”
Addressing the officers and employees, he said, “Everyone must be attentive to their own work. Everyone must be present at their workplace on time. You will find me close at any time. We will all work together to fulfill the expectations of the people.”
Member of Parliament from the Dhaka-18 constituency, SM Jahangir Hossain, was present as the special guest at the meeting.
In his speech, Jahangir Hossain said, “We have come to serve the people. We will work for the development of the area according to our capacity. There has been no visible development in the new wards in the past.”
He requested prompt effective initiatives to resolve waterlogging in Dakshinkhan and called for arrangements to establish a city corporation office in Uttar Khan. He said, “It is extremely difficult for ordinary people of Uttar Khan to come to Uttara to receive services.”
During the meeting, regional executive officers highlighted various problems and challenges related to providing citizen services. Matters concerning hawker management and auto-rickshaw control were also discussed.
The meeting was attended by the regional executive officers of DNCC Zones 1, 6, 7, and 8, along with relevant officers and employees.
