Alibaba.com, under Alibaba International, has appointed Springfield Corporation as its authorised channel partner in Bangladesh through a new agreement aimed at strengthening digital trade and export access for local businesses, the companies said in a press statement. The partnership will help Bangladeshi manufacturers, suppliers, exporters and traders expand their global reach via Alibaba.com’s B2B marketplace, which connects buyers and sellers across nearly 200 countries and regions.
The collaboration will initially focus on Bangladesh’s textile and apparel sector, before expanding into jute, leather, light engineering, handicrafts and other key industries, according to the statement.
The initiative is expected to create new export opportunities by enabling faster and more efficient access to international markets through digital trade platforms. It comes as Bangladesh seeks to deepen its integration into global supply chains and strengthen export-led growth through technology-driven commerce.
The signing ceremony was attended by Vania, Senior Specialist, Channel Operation, Global Business Development Department, GP&GSP, Alibaba.com; Sonobar Maira, Channel Manager, Bangladesh, Global Business Development Department, Domestic Channel, Alibaba.com; Md Faizul Alam, Managing Director of Springfield Corporation; Shaan Shahed, Executive Director of Springfield Corporation; and Umma Rokeya Nisha, Head of Business (Dhaka), Springfield Corporation, along with senior officials from both organisations.
Alibaba.com said the partnership reflects its commitment to supporting emerging markets in scaling up digital trade participation, while Springfield Corporation will act as a local facilitator to onboard and support businesses on the platform.
The agreement is positioned as a step towards strengthening Bangladesh’s export ecosystem and accelerating participation in global e-commerce networks, the companies said.
