TexSpire emerged as champion of Cascade 2026, a business case competition organised by International Standard University (ISU) to develop practical solutions to challenges facing Bangladesh’s textile industry.

The competition, jointly organised by the ISU Textile Club and ISU Business Club, was held on Thursday, 15 October, at the university’s Media Lab under the theme “From Textile Industry Problems to Business Solutions”, with six teams competing in the grand finale, the university said in a press release.

Beyond the Case secured second place, while The Challengers finished third. The winning teams received certificates and prize money at the closing ceremony.

The competition brought together students from six teams — Beyond the Case, The Challengers, Error and Thread, The Hunters, TexSpire and Electrons — who analysed challenges facing the textile industry and presented potential solutions, business strategies and practical action plans.

Professor Md Abul Kashem, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Chairman of the Department of Textile Engineering, presided over the competition.

The judging panel comprised Professor Dr Md Ekramul Hoque, Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), and Professor Mohammad Ali of the Department of Business Administration.

The organisers said the competition was designed to narrow the gap between academic knowledge and the practical demands of the textile industry by encouraging students to develop workable business solutions.

It also provided opportunities to strengthen professional skills, including analytical thinking, communication, leadership, teamwork and decision-making.

By examining real-world industrial challenges and developing potential solutions, participants gained practical experience intended to prepare them for future careers and contribute to the development of Bangladesh’s textile and business sectors, the organisers said.

Dr Muhammad Kamruzzaman, Professor and Head of the Department of Business Administration, and Registrar Mohammad Faizullah Kawshik attended the event.

Assistant Professors Farzana Chowdhury and Shamima Siddika, Lecturer Md Hasibul Hasan, heads of various departments, university officials and a large number of students were also present.
