Alia Bhatt made a brief stop at the Red Sea Film Festival on December 8 to spotlight ‘Alpha’, the upcoming Yash Raj Films project that will introduce the studio’s first female-led spy adventure.
The film, due in 2026, pairs Bhatt with Sharvari and features Bobby Deol in a key role. Directed by The Railway Men filmmaker Shiv Rawail and produced by Aditya Chopra, Alpha marks the seventh entry in the YRF Spy Universe, a franchise best known for blockbusters such as ‘Pathaan’, ‘War’ and the ‘Tiger’ series.
Speaking about the scale of the film, Bhatt said Alpha presents both an opportunity and a challenge, particularly within a commercial landscape where male-led action films have traditionally dominated. She noted that the project asks audiences to recalibrate their expectations of the genre.
Her comments come at a time when Yash Raj Films has been expanding its global footprint. In October, the studio signed a three-film agreement to shoot in the UK from 2026. The British Film Institute said the deal would create more than 3,000 jobs and inject millions of pounds into the local economy.
The arrangement also arrives in the year that marks the 30th anniversary of ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, the YRF classic that solidified the studio’s creative ties with Britain.
The Red Sea International Film Festival continues until December 13.
