Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC (AIB) recently hosted an agent banking views exchange meeting and courtyard gathering in Barishal. The initiative aims to strengthen its agent banking network and promote financial inclusion by bringing secure, modern, and Shariah-compliant services to underserved communities.
The programme brought together owners of 82 agent outlets, managers of 10 link branches, outlet managers and selected customers from the region, said in a press release.
Deputy Managing Director and Head of the bank’s Agent Banking & Digital Banking Wing Md Aminul Islam Bhuiyan was present at the event.
The day-long programme focused on addressing operational challenges, finding solutions, and driving deposit growth. Participants also discussed strategies to deliver secure, cashless banking using the bank’s digital channels, including Bangla QR, Islamic Wallet, and Digital Danbox.
Vice President and Manager of Mathbaria branch Md Enayet Fakir and Senior Assistant Vice President of Agent Banking Division Md Ishtiaq Hasan attended the event as special guests while the meeting was chaired by Barishal Branch Manager Muhammad Abdus Shukur.
Md Aminul Islam Bhuiyan said the bank was strengthening its agent banking operations to extend modern and Shariah-compliant banking services to underserved communities across the country.
He urged agent outlet owners, branch managers and outlet managers to work closely to accelerate deposit mobilisation, improve customer service and strengthen financial inclusion initiatives.
