Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has directed relevant authorities to implement a 25 percent reduction in stall rents for the upcoming Ekushey Book Fair.
The adviser confirmed the decision through an official Facebook post, stating, “Following appeals from the publishers, the stall rent at the book fair has been reduced this year. The fair will begin on 20 February.”
The directive follows a formal meeting involving the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the Director General of Bangla Academy to finalise the measure.
Ministry of Cultural Affairs has expressed optimism that this reduction in operational costs for exhibitors will contribute to a more vibrant fair, fostering a robust gathering of writers, readers, and publishers for this year’s event.
