An additional superintendent of Immigration Police has been withdrawn from duty over allegations of negligence regarding former President Md Abdul Hamid’s departure from the country.
Additionally, the investigating officer of the case filed against Md Abdul Hamid at Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station and an SB (Special Branch) official have been temporarily suspended.
The former President departed Dhaka for Bangkok during the early hours of Thursday.
In response, leaders and activists of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement staged a sit-in protest in front of the Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner’s office while Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury was in a meeting.
Later, the home affairs adviser met with the protesters and announced that, if he failed to punish the officials involved in former President Abdul Hamid’s departure from the country, he will step down himself.
