Rajshahi Stars FC are one result away from clinching the Women’s Football League title. A draw against Bangladesh Army in their final match on 13 February will be enough to crown Rituparna Chakma and her teammates champions.
That outcome would take Rajshahi to 28 points from 10 matches, a tally no other side can match. The title race, however, remains mathematically alive after both contenders recorded emphatic wins following the league’s resumption after a 13-day break.
Rajshahi produced a dominant display to thrash Sadyapushkarini 8-0. Fresh from being named top scorer and best player at the SAFF Under-19 Championship, Alpi Akter continued her fine form with a hat-trick on her club return. Captain Rituparna Chakma scored twice to earn the player-of-the-match award, while Priti and Munki added one goal each alongside an own goal.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh Army ran riot, hammering last season’s champions Nasrin Sports Academy 18-0 in a one-sided encounter at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium, Kamalapur.
Mosammat Sultana delivered a breathtaking performance, scoring nine goals — a triple hat-trick — to dismantle the Nasrin defence. Brishty Akter struck a hat-trick of her own, Unnoti Khatun and Tannima Biswas scored twice each, and Halima Akter completed the rout.
The victory lifted Army to 24 points from nine matches, keeping them second. A win over Rajshahi in the final round would see both sides finish on 27 points, forcing a play-off. Farashganj could also join the equation if they win their remaining matches, setting up a potential three-way title decider.
