India’s External Affairs minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar’s security has been beefed up following operation Sindoor. A brand new bulletproof car has been added to his convoy and security around his residence in New Delhi has also been tightened amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Jaishankar already enjoy Z-Category security, which is provided by the Indian central reserve police force (CRPF), reports local agencies.
The CRPF squad includes 33 commandos, of them six always travel along with him, and ten guard his residence. The move comes after the Ministry of External Affairs submitted a formal request over the weekend to increase Jaishankar’s security. The request reportedly followed a surge in cross-border hostilities.
New Delhi Police are also reviewing the security profile of other important people. This includes Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, 25 BJP leaders, Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, and Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. These individuals have been vocal against Pakistan’s support for terrorism, especially on social media.
The New Delhi Police have also ordered that all VIP security vehicles be equipped with first-aid kits. This is to make sure they are ready in case of any emergency while traveling.
