Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, special assistant to the Chief Adviser for Posts, Telecommunications, and ICT, announced that the Postal Department will begin recovering its occupied properties.
Speaking at the World Post Day event on Thursday in Agargaon, Dhaka, Taiyeb revealed that a comprehensive list of the department’s assets, including occupied ones, has been prepared. Recovery operations will start soon in coordination with divisional and district commissioners.
He emphasised that the current address management system is outdated for the digital economy. Efforts are underway to digitise the system, taking cues from private courier services, and integrating area codes, street codes, and geo-fencing for improved accuracy and security.
Taiyeb also highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance the mail and parcel tracking system, aiming to achieve nearly 100% accuracy by improving management software.
The government is working to integrate the Postal Department with the e-commerce sector, ensuring equal access to services for both urban and rural communities while rebuilding public trust in e-commerce.
The celebrations began with a colourful procession in front of the Post Office building.
Later in the day, a seminar titled “Thinking of the Future of the Post” will take place, focusing on the digital transformation of postal services.
