The admission test for the 2025–26 academic year at both public and private medical colleges across the country will be held on 12 December.
The decision was made at a meeting of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday.
Prof Rubina Yasmin, additional director general (medical education) at the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME), confirmed that the date for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) entrance exam was finalised during the meeting.
DGME Director General Professor Dr Nazmul Hosain said this year’s exam will include a limited written section in addition to the multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
“The written portion may carry 10 to 20 marks,” he said, adding that the matter will be finalised by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC).
The meeting was attended by BMDC President Dr Md Saiful Islam, Joint Secretary of the Medical Education and Family Welfare Division Mallika Khatun, and DGME Director Professor Dr Mohiuddin Matubbar.
Currently, Bangladesh has 38 public medical colleges with a total of 5,380 seats. However, Narayanganj Medical College has yet to begin operations. In contrast, 67 private medical colleges across the country offer 6,293 seats.
