Rajshahi University (RU) administration has decided to introduce a name-and-roll-free “coding system” on examination answer scripts to ensure transparent and neutral evaluation.
The new system will come into effect from the first semester of the 2025–26 academic session, according to RU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Mamunur Rashid.
Highlighting the objective of the initiative, Rashid said the move aims to ensure accurate evaluation of students’ merit, bring complete transparency to results, and eliminate all forms of bias.
He confirmed that the coding system will be implemented starting from the 1st year 1st semester of the 2025–26 academic year.
Regarding the execution process, Rashid said a formal meeting will be held tomorrow with the Office of the Controller of Examinations to determine the operational and implementation strategy.
Formal details concerning the methodology and execution will be announced at the meeting.
Explaining how the coding system will function, the university administration outlined that the cover page of each answer script will feature two separate sections.
One section will contain personal details such as the examinee’s name, roll number, and registration number, while the other section will bear a specific code number.
Before handing the answer scripts over to examiners, the section containing personal information will be detached and kept separate, ensuring that only the portion with the code number reaches the examiner’s table.
Consequently, examiners will remain completely unaware of the student’s identity during the evaluation process.
Once the evaluation is completed, the detached main section containing personal details will be re-matched with the secret code to compile mark sheets and publish results.
