Dengue fatalities have marked a sharp rise in the country with the highest number of 12 people reported dead from the mosquito-borne disease in a single day this year.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a press release on Sunday that 12 deaths have been recorded from dengue fever across the country in the last 24 hours till 8am on Sunday.
It also says as many as 740 people have been admitted with the fever to hospitals across the country during the period.
This marks the highest number of deaths and hospitalisations reported in a single day this year.
Among the newly hospitalised patients, 165 were admitted in Barishal division, 77 in Chattogram division, 147 in Dhaka division (outside the two city corporations), 122 in Dhaka North City Corporation and 115 in Dhaka South City Corporation.
