Bangladesh Army has directly refuted claims of its involvement in the upcoming central student union elections, particularly the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election. In a statement issued on Monday, the Army emphasized, “The Bangladesh Army has no role or involvement in the DUCSU elections, nor will it interfere in any way. This was clearly outlined in previous official statements.”
The statement continued, “Despite these clarifications, a group with vested interests continues to spread false and misleading rumors. These efforts are intended to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere and create instability in the electoral process.”
The Bangladesh Army reiterated its hope for the DUCSU elections to be held in a peaceful and orderly manner, following democratic principles. It expressed confidence that the elections would serve as a model for the upcoming national parliamentary elections.
“Heartfelt best wishes are extended to all candidates, voters, and participants in the elections,” the statement concluded.
The DUCSU election campaign wrapped up on a celebratory note on Sunday, with Dhaka University authorities confirming that voting will take place on Tuesday at eight campus polling centers from 8 am to 4 pm.
