The 4th Bangladesh-Turkey Army Staff Talks (AST) 2026 reached a successful conclusion on Thursday at the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment.
The high-level meeting, which spanned four days from 30 March 2026 to 2 April 2026, saw representatives from the armies of both nations engage in productive discussions to bolster mutual cooperation.
An 18-member delegation represented the Bangladesh side, led by Brigadier General Md Humayun Kabir, director of the Military Training Directorate of the Bangladesh Army. The three-member Turkish delegation was headed by Colonel Kader Ozyurek, head of the Military Relations and Strategy Department of Turkey.
Throughout the talks, both parties engaged in extensive deliberations regarding military cooperation, skill enhancement, and various aspects of strategic collaboration. Key emphasis was placed on the exchange of training, increasing the capacity to utilise advanced technology and military equipment, and fostering deeper mutual cooperation.
At the Army Staff Talks, detailed discussions were held on enhancing military capabilities through the organisation of multiple joint training sessions and exercises, the implementation of innovative training methodologies, and more effective joint cooperation frameworks.
It is expected that such meetings will pave the way for significant advancements in the defence sectors of both countries, particularly regarding military strategy and army operations.
