President Lee Jae Myung of South Korea stressed the importance of exploring ways to enhance and deepen cooperation between Bangladesh and South Korea on Tuesday.
The remarks came during a formal ceremony at the Presidential Office in Seoul, where Bangladesh Ambassador Toufiq Islam Shatil presented his credentials. The event was held in a decorated and cordial setting.
Following the credential presentation, Ambassador Shatil held a brief call-on with President Lee. During the meeting, the ambassador conveyed greetings from the President of Bangladesh Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser of the country Professor Muhammad Yunus, which were warmly reciprocated by the South Korean leader.
Acknowledging South Korea as an important friend and development partner of Bangladesh, Ambassador Shatil expressed his readiness to make efforts to strengthen bilateral ties. He also extended Bangladesh’s gratitude for South Korea’s ongoing humanitarian support for forcibly displaced Rohingyas in Bangladesh.
Additionally, the ambassador appreciated President Lee’s declared objective of expanding engagement with countries of the Global South. He also invited the president to consider visiting Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time in the near future.
