Former senior secretary NM Ziaul Alam has been shown as freshly arrested in the murder case of a teenager named Md Rustam in an area under Kafrul Police Station in the capital.
The order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Israt Jenifer Jerin’s court on Monday morning after a hearing.
He was produced in court from jail on Monday morning. Subsequently, the investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Md Kamrul Islam of Kafrul Police Station, applied to show him arrested. The judge granted the application to show him arrested. He was then sent back to jail.
According to the case statement, during the July movement, on July 19 last year, the victim Md Rustam participated in the movement in front of the Bata showroom, west of Begum Rokeya Sarani Shah Ali Plaza Market, under Mirpur-10 Golchattar in the Kafrul Police Station area.
On the day of the incident, he was injured by bullets fired by the accused in the afternoon and was taken to the hospital. The attending doctor later declared Rustam dead. The victim’s family filed the murder case at Kafrul Police Station regarding the incident.
