Midland Bank PLC, in collaboration with the Office of the Placement and Alumni (OPA) of the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), organised a seminar on the AIUB campus on Monday.
The seminar titled “Financial Literacy” aimed to equip students with essential financial skills to help them make informed decisions regarding personal financial management.
The speakers emphasized the importance of financial literacy, including digital financial literacy, and covered topics such as personal financial planning, budgeting, saving, the benefits of compounding, passive income, reserve funds, retirement planning, and the individual financial behaviour model. They also discussed the significance of IT awareness when engaging in digital banking.
The seminar was inaugurated by R Tareque Moudud, FCMA, director of OPA, who welcomed the guests and underscored the importance of such initiatives. He expressed gratitude to Midland Bank PLC for their collaboration and encouraged them to host similar sessions in the future.
Representatives from Midland Bank included Md Rashed Akter, head of retail distribution division, Financial Literacy Wing, and Mohammad Faruq Ur Rahman, manager of the retail distribution division. The seminar also saw the participation of Nabila Wahid, lecturer in the department of finance, FBA, along with other AIUB officials.
The event successfully enhanced students’ understanding of financial literacy, motivating them to apply this knowledge to better manage their personal finances.
