Dhallywood actress Pori Moni lost her temper at the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Thursday (5 November) as journalists and curious onlookers crowded around her, creating a chaotic scene during her appearance to seek surrender and bail.

She arrived at around 9.30am in a white car, accompanied by at least 10 personal security guards dressed in black. She stayed inside the vehicle for some time before attempting to enter the courtroom.

As she made her way through the crowd, pushing and pulling broke out amid efforts by security personnel to clear a path. The disorder tested the actress’s patience, and she openly expressed her anger and frustration on the court premises.

Her appearance came a day after Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman rejected her bail application and issued an arrest warrant in a case involving alleged vandalism at Savar Boat Club, assault and the attempted murder of businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud.

Pori Moni had missed Wednesday’s scheduled hearing for witness testimony. Her lawyer, Nilanjana Rifat Suravi, sought an adjournment, citing an allergy-related illness. Nasir’s lawyer, Abul Kalam Mohammad Sohel, opposed the request, alleging that the actress was deliberately absent to delay the proceedings.

According to the complaint, they visited the club on the night of 8 June 2021 and allegedly tried to take bottles of expensive liquor without payment. When the authorities refused, they allegedly vandalised the premises. The complaint further alleges that Pori Moni injured Nasir by throwing a glass and a mobile phone at him.

The case involves allegations of assault, vandalism, intimidation and attempted murder. Proceedings are ongoing.
