Md Al Mahmud Tarek, a former central organising secretary of the banned Chhatra League (BCL), has been arrested from an area in Mirpur, Dhaka.
Akhtar Hossain, deputy commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the arrest on Thursday.
Quoting Mirpur police, the official said Tarek, also a former general secretary of the Dhaka College unit of Chhatra League, was arrested during a raid in the Love Road area at around 1:30am.
Legal proceedings against him are underway, he added.
