Small-screen actor Zaher Alvi has returned to work after a seven-month break, announcing his comeback through social media following his release on bail in a case linked to his wife’s death.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Alvi wrote, “A small celebration, but a huge source of inspiration… the winds of a comeback.”
In an earlier post, he teased his return, asking fans, “Won’t you welcome me?”
The actor later confirmed that he had resumed work after seven months. His new project is being directed by Samir Rahman Rabbi and produced by Mahmud Hasan Rana.
However, he has not disclosed the project’s title, storyline or release schedule.
Alvi was arrested in connection with a case accusing him of abetting the suicide of his wife, Afra Ibnat Ikra.
On 18 June, he surrendered before a Dhaka court and sought bail, but the court rejected his plea and ordered that he be sent to jail. After completing two days of remand on 24 June, he was sent back to prison.
The High Court granted him bail on 3 August.
His return to work after the prolonged break has renewed interest in the next chapter of his acting career.
