Md Alamgir Hossan, Group General Manager of Platinum Hotels by SHELTECH, has been named South Asia’s Best General Manager at the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2026, according to the hotel group. He is the first Bangladeshi to receive the honour, the group said in a press release on Saturday.
The award was presented at the SATA 2026 Grand Gala on 8 October at Barceló Nasandhura Malé in the Maldives.
Platinum Residence by SHELTECH also received the Leading City Hotel award in the 40 Rooms Below category at the same event.
Hossan began his career as a waiter at former Hotel Sheraton in Shahbagh, Dhaka, more than two decades ago. He has more than 22 years of experience in hotel operations, commercial strategy and business leadership.
He joined Platinum Hotels by SHELTECH in 2017 and provides operational leadership across Platinum Grand in Banani and Platinum Residence in Uttara.
SATA 2026 brought together travel and hospitality professionals from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka, the press release added.
