Bangladeshi rock band The Rover is returning with an ambitious second album that brings together its earlier work and a collection of new songs.

Titled Ayna, the album features 18 tracks, making it a double-album of sorts. It includes all the songs from the band’s debut album Samadharmita, released last year, alongside nine new tracks and two tribute songs.

The title track Ayna will lead the album’s release campaign, with its music video scheduled to come out on 1 October. The remaining songs will be released gradually through The Rover’s official YouTube channel and Spotify.

All the tracks were recorded live at Antara Studio. Dewan Enamul Hasan handled the mixing and mastering, while Perception Media produced and directed the music video.

The album takes an introspective approach, reflecting on the difficulty of finding time for self-reflection amid the speed and pressure of modern life.

Band member Ratul said the songs grew from a desire to encourage people to pause and reconnect with themselves.

“In this busy and mechanical life, we hardly find time to know ourselves or have a conversation with our own selves. While making these songs, we felt that understanding ourselves is essential if we want to bring some peace to this turbulent life,” he said.

The band hopes the album will encourage listeners to slow down and look inward, using music as a way to begin that journey.

The Rover began its journey in 2017. The current three-member lineup features Ratul (Abdullah Bin Haque) on guitar, Jafri Abedin on bass and Tunan (Mahfuzul Haque) on drums. All three members also contribute vocals.
