Filmmaker Ali Zulfikar Zahedi is turning his attention to loneliness, strained relationships and the emotions people often hide from the outside world in his second feature film, Janalar Opare Keu Nei.
The film is currently being shot in Dhaka and surrounding areas under the banner of Adrian Productions. Zahedi, who previously directed Kagoj: The Paper, is working with both established and new performers for the project.
The story explores the psychological and human dimensions of contemporary relationships, focusing on loneliness, emotional distance and the unspoken realities that exist behind seemingly ordinary lives. The director plans to decide on the film’s release after completing production.
Sifat Amin Shuvo, Adrita, Sakib Hossain, Lara Lotus, Anwar Shahi, Golam Farida Chhonda, Raju Sarkar and Saifur Rahman Evan feature in the cast. Child artistes Rudra Roy and Naomi are also part of the film.
The project marks Adrita’s big-screen debut. Cinematographer Ismail Hossain Liton is handling the visuals, with the team using real locations across Dhaka according to the story’s requirements.
Zahedi has also revealed that a Pakistani actress is expected to play an important lead role in the film. He has chosen not to disclose her name or character yet, saying the details will be announced officially once the process is completed.
“Many feelings and unspoken words remain hidden behind people’s outward lives. Relationships also have sides that are not easy to understand from the outside. Through this film, I am trying to explore those unseen aspects through the story and its characters,” Zahedi said.
His previous feature, Kagoj: The Paper, as well as his short and feature films, have been screened at various film festivals at home and abroad and have received recognition.
