Two Pakistani civilians were killed and another was injured after India’s Border Security Force (BSF) opened fire near the Pakistan-India international border in Kasur district of eastern Punjab, Pakistani security sources said on Friday.
According to the sources, the three villagers from Ladhar had moved a few steps beyond a border pillar when BSF personnel “opened fire on them without warning”, reports Xinhua.
The sources said all three civilians were unarmed.
The deceased were identified as Azmat Rasool and Mohsin Jutt, both residents of Jattan Wali Haveli in Ladhar. The third man sustained injuries in the firing.
Pakistani security sources said none of the three had attempted to cross the border fence.
They described the incident as a violation of the agreement and standard operating procedures governing the Pakistan-India international border.
