Daffodil International University (DIU) secured the top position among Bangladeshi universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, with a total weighted score of 38.42 and a global ranking in the 801–1000 band, the university said in a press release on Wednesday.
The university also ranked 294th globally in research quality, while three other Bangladeshi universities were placed in the same global ranking band, according to the press release.
DIU said the ranking reflects its performance across key areas assessed by THE, including research quality, research environment, international outlook, teaching and industry engagement. The university attributed the achievement to the combined efforts of faculty members, researchers, students, alumni and staff in advancing academic excellence, research, innovation and international collaboration.
The university said it has continued to strengthen its research ecosystem, expand global academic partnerships, improve teaching and learning, and increase its contribution to sustainable development.
Earlier this year, DIU ranked 87th globally and first in Bangladesh among 1,603 universities in THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026. The university has also been recognised in subject areas including Business & Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, and Medical & Health in THE World University Rankings by Subject 2026.
