International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) has been ranked fifth among private universities in Bangladesh and ninth among all universities in the country in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, placing in the 1001–1200 global ranking band, the university said in a press release.
The rankings were published on Wednesday (30 September) on THE’s official website, with 2,297 universities from 118 countries assessed in this year’s edition.
THE evaluated universities based on five key areas — teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook and industry engagement. The assessment also included indicators such as student-staff ratio, research citations and the proportion of international students.
IUBAT said its position reflected continued progress in academic quality, research output and global engagement. The university, established in 1991 as the first private university in Bangladesh, has built a reputation for practice-oriented education in business, agriculture, engineering, computer science, nursing and other disciplines.
The university said its green campus in Uttara, Dhaka, international collaborations and focus on research and community engagement have contributed to its rise in global rankings.
