Police have arrested six members of banned organisations on charges of anti-state conspiracy and preparing for terrorist activities from the capital’s Adabor area.
The arrests were made during a raid conducted around 10pm on Tuesday, according to a press release issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday.
According to police sources, the raid was carried out following information that activists of the banned organisations – Chhatra League, Jubo League, and Swechchhasebak League –had gathered inside the residence to plan destabilising the state and destroying state infrastructure.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Md Rakib Mahmud, 20; Abdur Rahman alias Arpon, 22; Md Mishkat Alam Bhuiyan, 26; Md Rahman Shuvo, 19; Saikat Hossain Samrat, 22; and Md Bijoy, 20.
A regular case has been filed at Adabor Police Station in connection with the incident.
