Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi had a discussion on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s possible visit to India with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir.
The discussion took place at the Foreign Ministry when the Indian envoy paid a courtesy call on the state minister on Tuesday.
After the meeting, the state minister said, “Of course, there are some challenges. We will overcome those challenges through dialogue and discussion. We are hopeful that we can overcome these challenges. And of course, at some conducive point, the PM may visit also. So here, a good discussion took place, a very cordial discussion was held, as I said.”
About romour on the PM’s possible visit in November, he said, “Discussions are ongoing. Rumours… I mean… how can I talk about rumour? Rumours are just rumours how much can I talk about rumours? I talk about reality. The reality is we had a very good meeting today. So, I am very positive that we may have positive outcomes in the very near future. And as I told you earlier, challenges are there, and we will overcome these challenges through talks. So, we will do a visit when the environment is conducive, based on mutual respect.”
About the visit of Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval visit to Dhaka, he said,” No, no, no. Nothing like that was discussed, or anything else. This was purely a courtesy call. Here, I mean, there was some discussion about the visit. So we are positive about it.”
