Taylor Swift had a major night at the MTV Video Music Awards, winning three trophies and taking her career tally to 33.
Her showgirl-inspired ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ won Video of the Year, which she dedicated to late country music legend Dolly Parton. Calling Parton the “ultimate showgirl”, Swift praised her vivid storytelling and said audiences were lucky to have shared the planet with her.
Swift also won Best Direction for ‘Opalite’ and received the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honour. She has directed 18 of around 60 music videos in her career.
Her latest video, ‘Patient Zero’, also premiered at the ceremony, starring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell.
The ceremony was hosted by Snoop Dogg, while Madonna led the winners with seven awards, including Artist of the Year and Best Dance Video.
