State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj has said that skilled and capable human resources are a fundamental pillar of sustainable development, stressing the need to effectively link education with employment, entrepreneurship and economic growth.
He made the remarks as chief guest at a discussion titled “From Classroom to Economy”, organised by the Bangladesh Consulate General in New York.
The event, moderated by Consul General Muhammad Mozammel Haque, brought together government policymakers, university representatives, employers and Bangladeshi expatriate professionals based in New York, reports UNB.
Addressing Bangladeshi students and professionals from US universities, Hajjaj emphasised that education should not remain confined to academic degrees but must prepare youth for real‑world challenges and the demands of future job markets.
He highlighted the importance of building an integrated continuum from education to skill development, skill to employment, and employment to economic productivity.
The state minister also underscored the need to leverage the expertise and global experience of expatriate Bangladeshi professionals to advance national human resource development and foster international knowledge exchange.
Speakers at the event noted that in the current global economic context, integrating education with job‑oriented skills is increasingly vital. They stressed stronger cooperation among government, educational institutions, the private sector, employers and expatriate Bangladeshis.
The discussion explored ways to connect education and skills development with employment and economic progress.
Participants emphasised coordinated initiatives to prepare Bangladesh’s young generation as skilled, productive human resources equipped for the future job market.
It was also highlighted that such dialogues could create new opportunities for cooperation and knowledge‑sharing among stakeholders, helping to build an effective bridge between education, skills and employment for human resource development in Bangladesh.
