The total number of dengue fatalities in Bangladesh this year has surpassed 200, reaching 201 after six new deaths were reported in the past 24 hours.
During the same period, 1,868 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.
The figures were disclosed in a press release issued on Wednesday by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Among the 1,868 patients newly admitted to hospital in the preceding 24 hours, 1,135 were male (60.8 per cent) and 733 were female (39.2 per cent).
A breakdown of new admissions in the last 24 hours shows that 156 patients were admitted within the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) area, 113 within the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 280 in other areas of Dhaka division outside the city corporations.
Regionally, 280 new cases were recorded in Khulna division, 179 in Chattogram division, 173 in Barisal division, 113 in Mymensingh division, 59 in Rajshahi division, 8 in Rangpur division, and 8 in Sylhet division.
Over the same 24-hour period, 1,557 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals nationwide after receiving treatment.
Of the six deaths reported in the last 24 hours, two occurred in Dhaka South City Corporation, two in Chattogram division, one in Barisal division, and one in Mymensingh division.
According to official DGHS data, a total of 67,367 dengue cases have been recorded nationwide since 1 January 2026. Of these total cases, 41,996 were male (62.6 per cent) and 25,130 were female (37.4 per cent).
Among the total deceased, 96 were male (48.0 per cent) and 104 were female (52.0 per cent). Since the start of the year, 62,117 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, whilst 5,049 dengue patients are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals across the country.
