Bangladesh’s television industry has witnessed a gradual change in its leading actors as each generation brings its own style of performance.
Following stars such as Ziaul Faruq Apurba and Afran Nisho, actors including Siam Ahmed, Tawsif Mahbub, Niloy Alamgir, Zovan and Irfan Sajjad established strong connections with audiences.
Now, Yash Rohan and Khairul Basar are emerging as two prominent faces of the generation that follows them.
The two actors have different approaches to acting and make their choices based on their individual preferences.
Yet, they share one important quality—their dedication to their craft. Through consistent work in television dramas, both have gradually matured as performers and built identities of their own.
Their popularity also extends beyond audiences. Both actors are known among colleagues for their humility and sincerity. Alongside television, they have also appeared in films, expanding their work beyond the small screen.
Yash Rohan has recently attracted attention for his performance in Imraul Rafat’s drama Kabin Nama. His work in the same director’s Warish had also received praise from viewers.
Acting was never an unfamiliar world for Yash. Both his parents are artistes, so he grew up surrounded by the industry. What began as an early exposure eventually became his own ambition.
Over the years, he has continued to develop his craft and establish a distinct identity.
Khairul Basar, meanwhile, has also seen growing interest in his performances. His role in Muhammad Mostofa Kamal Raj’s serial Eta Amaderi Golpo has helped him reach a wider audience in recent times.
His ability to immerse himself in a character, combined with his strong voice, expressions and dialogue delivery, has made his performances stand out.
He has also received appreciation for his work in dramas such as Vheja Chokh, Obhijan, Dear Family and Pothhara Mon.
Basar has also demonstrated his acting ability in films alongside his television work.
Despite their growing recognition, neither actor considers his current position enough.
“I am not satisfied at all, to be honest. I want to go much further. There is still a long way to go. I believe there is still a lot left to achieve. I am trying to do that. I do not know how much I will be able to accomplish,” Yash Rohan said.
Basar also remains focused on improving rather than becoming complacent.
“I do not know what my position is. But I think many people now know that this boy acts. I believe I have done some good work. However, I want the number of such works to increase,” he said.
His ambitions also extend to the wider television industry. Basar believes stronger stories and better productions require more talented directors, writers and supportive producers.
“To be honest, I always feel that we need more good directors and drama writers. We also need better producers to support them. I believe that if we have more good directors and writers, we will have more opportunities to do better work. I always hope to get opportunities to work on good projects,” he said.
Both Yash Rohan and Khairul Basar have already created their own space in the industry, but neither sees that achievement as a final destination.
They now want to explore stronger stories, more challenging characters and more mature performances as they continue their journeys with the support of their audiences.
