5 bodies recovered in separate incidents across Dhaka

Police have recovered the bodies of five people, including a woman, from separate locations in Shahbagh, Motijheel, Jatrabari and Kamrangirchar in the capital on Monday.

The identities of the five could not immediately be established.

Their bodies were recovered between morning and afternoon and sent to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for post-mortem examinations.

In Jatrabari, Sub-Inspector Md Asaduzzaman Jewel recovered the body of a man, aged around 45, from the Shanir Akhra area.

In Motijheel, pedestrians found a 50-year-old man on the road opposite Notre Dame College on Monday morning and took him to Dhaka Medical College, where he died shortly afterwards while undergoing treatment.

In Shahbagh, Sub-Inspector Bijoy Mondal recovered the body of a 30-year-old woman from beside Dhaka Medical College and that of a 30-year-old man from near the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Mondal said both were homeless and had died from illness.

Meanwhile, Kamrangirchar Police Station Duty Officer Sub-Inspector Praneshwar Das said the body of a 65-year-old man was recovered from the Jaulahati area on Monday morning. Police said he was also homeless.
