All garment factories across the country will remain closed on 7 November to mark National Revolution and Solidarity Day, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has announced.
The apparel manufacturers’ body confirmed the decision in a notice issued on Thursday.
Earlier, on 21 October, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification declaring 7 November a public holiday every year in observance of National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
The notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Waliul Daman of the ministry’s Rules-6 section, said the decision had been taken in line with a cabinet decision.
Following the decision, the day has been included in the government’s annual public holiday calendar.
