NRB Bank PLC has signed a participation agreement with Bangladesh Bank to provide working capital financing to cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises (CMSME) at a 9 per cent interest rate from the Tk5,000 crore Working Capital Refinance Fund.
The agreement was signed on 8 September 2026 at Bangladesh Bank’s Head Office. Md Zabdul Islam, Director of the SME and Special Programs Department (SMESPD) of Bangladesh Bank, and Tarek Reaz Khan, Managing Director & CEO of NRB Bank PLC, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions, said in a press release.
Md Anis Ur Rahman, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, attended the signing ceremony as chief guest. Nahid Rahman, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank; Shahanaj Pervin, Additional Director; and Md Aminul Islam, Head of the SME Division of NRB Bank PLC, were also present at the event.
The fund was formed under the Tk60,000 crore stimulus package announced by Bangladesh Bank to provide necessary working capital loans and investments to CMSME enterprises, enabling them to operate production, service and business activities at full capacity and create direct and indirect employment.
Under the scheme, operational CMSME enterprises facing difficulties in running their businesses at full capacity due to a shortage of working capital will receive financing at an interest rate of 9 per cent.
NRB Bank PLC said it is a partner in supporting the business journey of CMSME enterprises.
