Prova’s Bangkok mystery: A hidden wedding story?

For years, Sadia Jahan Prova has kept her relationships firmly behind closed doors. Yet cryptic captions, carefully chosen photographs and emotional posts have repeatedly reignited interest in her love life. Now, a new account of her personal life has put marriage at the centre of attention once again.

The question is not simply whether Prova has married again, but whether her frequent travels, comments and social media posts over recent months are pieces of a much bigger story.

Prova has travelled frequently, including extended stays in the United States. In April, she shared a photograph showing a ring on her ring finger, strengthening talk that she may have been engaged. She later posted another photograph featuring what appeared to be a diamond ring on her ring finger alongside a flower bouquet, further fuelling interest in her relationship status.

In January, Prova addressed questions about marriage and divorce during a Facebook Live session, objecting to the intrusion into her private life and stressing that marriage is personal. She reportedly said whatever is meant for her will happen when the time comes.

Then, in June, she shared a video warning women not to fall in love with married men, cautioning against believing men who claim their marriages are unhappy or that they remain with their wives only for their children. The timing drew attention, particularly as there were also whispers that Prova was romantically involved with a celebrity car reviewer.

The comments inevitably invited interest given her own history. Prova first married actor Ziaul Faruq Apurba in August 2010, but they divorced in 2011. She later married Mahmud Shanto, and that marriage also ended in divorce in 2014. Before Apurba, she had been engaged to Rajib Hasan, with contemporary reports documenting the dramatic turn of events. In a 2019 interview, she famously spoke of falling in love while being afraid of marriage.

Then came the posts that added another layer.

In June, while in Nepal, Prova shared photographs that attracted attention to her relationship status. One showed her with balloons carrying “I Love You”, while another showed her hand reaching towards a man’s hand with the words “I love you too”. The latter was reportedly deleted after followers questioned the man’s identity. Prova did not publicly confirm a relationship.

On 31 July, she wrote that she was still living without “you” and counting every day until they met again, without revealing whom she meant.
Now comes the latest development.

According to a source personally close to Prova and familiar with the matter, the actress travelled to Bangkok during the first week of August and married a younger man she had previously become close to in the US. The source says Prova fell in love with him and, despite strong family resistance, eventually chose to marry him after a prolonged struggle.

The source says they had earlier entered into a US marriage arrangement, described as a “contract marriage” intended to help Prova obtain US citizenship or immigration status and facilitate her move there. Times Entertainment could not independently establish its legal nature, purpose or status. According to the same source, however, what began as an arrangement eventually became a genuine relationship, and Prova ultimately decided to marry him despite family opposition.

If confirmed, the development would mark a dramatic new chapter in Prova’s relationship with love and marriage. It would also give new context to the mysterious “you” in her 31 July post, which the source believes may have referred to the same man.

TIMES contacted Prova by phone and text seeking confirmation and comment, but she did not initially respond. Later, she called back and denied the notion of her getting married, dismissing just as rumours.

For a woman who once said she fell in love but feared marriage, the reported turn would be quite a reversal. Perhaps the bigger story is not simply whether Prova has married for a third time, but whether she has finally chosen the person she was willing to fight for.

For now, Prova is keeping the final word to herself.
