Sara Arjun is reportedly set to portray legendary Hindi film actress Madhubala in a biopic backed by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, with shooting expected to begin in September.
According to a Mid-Day report, the untitled film will be directed by Darlings filmmaker Jasmeet K Reen. The production is expected to begin at Royal Palms in Goregaon, Mumbai, after Bhansali completes Love & War at the same location by the end of August. Sara has reportedly already begun preparing for the role, with the team focusing on Madhubala’s personality, mannerisms and the era she inhabited.
Madhubala, one of Hindi cinema’s most enduring stars, appeared in films including Mahal, Mr & Mrs 55, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Barsaat Ki Raat and Mughal-e-Azam.
The project was first announced in 2024 with Jasmeet K Reen as director, though casting details were not revealed at the time.
