Actor Neha Sharma has warned of legal action against anyone using artificial intelligence to create or circulate images and videos featuring her face without permission. She has demanded the immediate removal of such content, calling the misuse of her identity unacceptable, states Hindustan Times.
Sharma issued the warning in a post on X on Saturday, asking those responsible to stop creating, editing or sharing AI-generated material featuring her likeness. She also urged them to remove content already published online.
“Using my face in this manner to misrepresent me or malign my reputation is completely unacceptable,” she wrote, making it clear that she had not consented to the unauthorised use of her identity.
The actor warned that she would pursue legal action against everyone involved in creating, posting or circulating such material. She also cautioned that fake accounts and the use of AI would not shield those responsible from accountability.
Sharma’s statement comes amid growing concerns over deepfakes and the misuse of celebrities’ images and voices. Several Indian actors, including Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Rashmika Mandanna, have raised concerns or pursued action over the unauthorised use of their identities.
On the professional front, Sharma is preparing for the release of her upcoming Punjabi film ‘Sanjog’. Directed by Harish Gargi, the film also stars Jassie Gill and Happy Raikoti and is scheduled to release in theatres on 27 November.
