Women passengers on BRTC’s women-only “Pink Bus” service can now purchase tickets through POS-based e-ticketing, with the service launched on 14 buses operating across Dhaka, Chattogram and Bogura.
Shohoz Limited has introduced the technology-enabled system to make public transportation more convenient and organised for women passengers, said a press release on Sunday.
The service was formally launched at an event held at the Tejgaon BRTC Bus Depot. Shohoz teams provided hands-on training to conductors on operating the POS machines, covering e-ticket issuance and other procedures.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam attended the launch as chief guest. State Minister Habibur Rashid, Road Transport Secretary Ziaul Haque and Women and Children Affairs Secretary Yasmin were present as special guests. BRTC Chairman Abdul Latif Molla chaired the event.
The initiative marks a step towards expanding technology-enabled public transport services for women passengers, with the service expected to make ticket purchasing faster and more transparent.
