Popular singer Pathik Nabi has returned to film playback singing after a long hiatus, lending his voice to a song in filmmaker Syed Shamser Tarif’s upcoming film Mati.
Pathik Nabi was last heard in a film in 2004, when he sang Amar Keno Pakhir Moto Mon for Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s Bachelor. Since then, he had not recorded a playback song for a feature film.
Nearly 22 years later, the singer has made his comeback with Matir Putul, a song from Mati.
The track was written and composed by Abegi Zakir, with music arranged by Jimy Shah. The recording was completed on 27 July.
Explaining why Pathik Nabi was chosen for the song, director Syed Shamser Tarif said, “Matir Putul is a folk-inspired song.
Once the track was ready, we all felt that Pathik Nabi would be the perfect voice for it. It felt as though the song had been written for him.”
The team later contacted the singer and sent him the music track.
Pathik Nabi liked the song immediately and agreed to record it.
“We recorded the song on 27 July. He sang it wonderfully. I hope audiences will enjoy it as much as we do,” the filmmaker added.
Pathik Nabi is also excited about returning to the big screen after such a long break.
The singer has expressed interest in continuing playback singing if he receives songs with strong lyrics and melodies.
Set against a rural backdrop, Mati features Rafah Nanjeba Torsa, Alvi Mamun, MD Iqbal Hossain, Mahamud Alam and Ashik Sarkar, among others.
According to the filmmaker, Mati is scheduled to be released in cinemas in December, subject to everything going according to plan.
